Summer 2024 Newsletter

The first half of the year has been busy for BDPA and our clients, and with summer comes many exciting changes. Here’s a look at some of our work as of late.

BergDavis Merges with Southwest Strategies

After 25 years as a leading public affairs firm in San Francisco, BDPA has merged with Southwest Strategies, a premier communications firm based in San Diego! We are thrilled to be part of the Southwest Strategies family of companies, combining our skills and expertise with those of more than 100 new colleagues across California. With teams in the Bay Area, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Fresno, BDPA is ready to assist new and existing clients with projects statewide.

Promoting a Vibrant Downtown SF

BDPA remains committed to the future of Downtown SF. We are collaborating with The East Cut Community Benefit District to promote the neighborhood, and in a few short months we have seen The East Cut recognized in two major publications.

This downtown S.F. neighborhood is having a moment, with new shops and housing on the way.

Using Social Media to Get the News Out

As traditional newspaper circulation declines across the Bay Area and statewide, social media is fast becoming the main source of news for many readers. BDPA helps its clients expand their digital footprints to tell their stories in compelling ways and reach wider audiences through engaging social media content, videos, and visual data.

SF Mayoral Forums

Leadership SF Mayoral Forums

BDPA worked with Advance SF, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, Bay Area Council, BOMA San Francisco, the Golden Gate Restaurant Association, and the San Francisco Travel Association (SF Travel) to host a series of interviews with the City’s top five mayoral candidates at the Museum of African Diaspora. Moderated by Margaret Conley, Executive Director of Asia Society Northern California, candidates were asked the same 12 questions about economic development, the City’s budget, Downtown revitalization, safe and clean streets, and more.

SF Bar Pilots Virtual Reality Video

A VR Journey with the San Francisco Bar Pilots

The San Francisco Bar Pilots safely navigate the world’s largest ships through some of North America’s most challenging waterways. Click below to watch an educational virtual reality video, produced by BDPA, that bridges modern storytelling with the organization’s 174 year history.

Our digital content studio offers social media services as well. In just one week, two BDPA-managed Instagram accounts garnered over 1 million views.

Keeping It Local

In the course of our 25 years, we have built a wealth of knowledge and connections that allow us to deliver successful communications campaigns for our Bay Area clients. As we expand our reach statewide, our commitment to our Bay Area clients is steadfast.

OMAST

Meet the Oakland Maritime Access, Sustainability, and Trade (O-MAST) Coalition, a formidable partnership of maritime, transportation, logistics, labor, and community stakeholders working towards one common goal: the long-term viability of the Port of Oakland as a critical contributor to the region’s economic health.

Biocom California Bay Area

BDPA is working with Biocom California Bay Area to bring their workforce initiatives to life, helping to maintain the Bay Area’s thriving life sciences industry. Recent workforce development programs include the inaugural Bay Area Life Sciences Career Expo which attracted over 200 jobseekers as well as actively hiring companies and universities.

Pacifica Library

Libraries remain a pillar of our communities. The City of Pacifica has resumed outreach for its Library Modernization Project, which will bring expanded books, materials, and programming to its residents. Recently, Pacifica’s Sanchez Library unveiled the Library Outpost complete with a self-service kiosk that offer 24/7 access to books - the first of its kind in the San Mateo County Library system.

Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center

Despite the challenges currently faced by housing developers, Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center is bringing 70 units of 100% affordable senior housing to San Francisco’s Bernal Heights neighborhood. The project, located at 3333 Mission Street, will offer seniors who have been priced out of the area the opportunity to age in place comfortably, surrounded by community and necessary services.
